Expectations for SIOP Implementation

Crowell School Expectations

for SIOP Implementation

Updated:  3-12

During the 11-12 School Year– Administrators and coach will conduct SIOP observations and focus feedback on one component, lesson preparation, through the entire year.

Next phase of Coach-

  •  Provide a systematic approach for giving feedback on SIOP features.
  • Conduct SIOP component observations specific to one feature in order to gather trends for the purpose of site specific trainings.
  • Allow release time to deliver a lesson and get immediate feedback using the coach’s SIOP feedback form.

SIOP Observation Process-

Monthly grade level meetings will guide future site SIOP staff development by carefully analyzing of SIOP data trends.  Site coach will provide SIOP professional development at monthly staff meetings.  Individual grade levels may also receive SIOP training through the coach during release time.

Why are we doing this process?

Research demonstrates that staff development strategies coupled with coaching and on-going feedback increases student success.

What is this process?

  •  It is a systematic method of giving feedback to all teachers to increase SIOP implementation.
  • It is a method of ensuring student academic success.

What this process is not

  •  It is NOT an evaluation tool.
  • All feedback is recorded and given to the teacher and not kept by anyone other than the teacher.
